In 1994, Madam Thuy created the model of the Hoi An tailors shop when she became the first to leave the Cloth Market and open a shop with English-speaking sales assistants.
At the time, Madam Thuy’s parents had been running a small, local tailoring business from their home at 60 Le Loi. In 1994, Hoi An had only three restaurants catering to foreign visitors, and the only accommodation in town, the Hoi An Hotel, was still a mini-hotel.
From just four staff at 60 Le Loi, THUTHUYSILK® now employs over 100 people and has five locations across the Old Town of Hoi An.
